Kennett High School’s marketing students have partnered with the
Kevin Peare Memorial Skate Park
to embark on a significant rebranding project, focusing on the intersection of
skateboarding and mental health.
This collaborative effort aims to raise awareness about the mental health services
that will be offered at the skate park while helping destigmatize both skateboarding
and mental health issues in the community.
The Kevin Peare Memorial Skate Park, will be more than just a place for skateboarders
to gather. It will serve as a safe space where people can come together, find support,
and connect with mental health resources. However, many in the community
are unaware of the park’s focus on mental health, which is why the
KHS marketing students have taken on the task of rebranding its image.
The students are also working on designing and producing limited-edition t-shirts
that will be sold in the school store. The t-shirts, which are designed by the students themselves,
emphasize the importance of mental health and bear the skate park’s tagline: “
More than a skate park, here you matter.” By wearing these shirts, students
and community members can help spread the word about the skate park’s mission
while supporting the cause.
The production of the shirts is entirely student-driven.
From brainstorming design ideas to handling the logistics of manufacturing
and selling the products, the KHS marketing students are gaining hands-on
experience in real-world marketing while supporting a meaningful cause.
“It’s not just about designing a cool t-shirt,” said one student involved in the project.
“It’s about spreading awareness and letting people know that there’s a place
in our community where you can be part of something bigger.”
All proceeds from the t-shirt sales will go directly to
the Kevin Peare Memorial Skate Park.
The students hope that their efforts will not only bring more attention
to the park but also encourage more people to eventually utilize its resources
and see it as a place of acceptance.
The collaboration between Kennett High School’s marketing students
and the skate park is a
Powerful example of how young people can make a difference in their community.
